Who is Garbage Delight?
We are a small group of friends concerned about minimizing our ecological footprint by reducing our household waste. Much of our food waste is now diverted from the landfill right into our gardens. That's right - our garbage has become our delight!
We are sharing our success with everyone who is interested. We currently sell composting worms and composting bins so you can create your own vermicompost habitat. We also provide "worm-doctoring" to help restore balance to your composting community.

Vermicomposting
Vermicomposting is using worms in the composting process so that you can compost indoors year-round. Red Wiggler worms eat half their body weight every day in food waste. The worm poop (castings) is very rich in nutrients and wonderful for use in the garden or in potted plants. You can’t buy soil like this! By composting, you are helping the environment by quickly breaking down waste into a useful by-product. Food decomposes very slowly in a plastic bag in a landfill and is of no use to anyone. Congratulations for starting to vermicompost!

What difference do the castings make?
Compost is a soil conditioner which has many benefits:
  • It improves its physical structure
  • It enriches soil in micro-organisms, adds plant hormones such as auxins and gibberellic acid, and adds enzymes such as phosphates and cellulase
  • It attracts deep-burrowing earthworms already present in the soil
  • It improves water holding capacity
  • It enhances germination, plant growth, and crop yield
  • It improves root growth and structure
